Major Walter Nowotny Walter Nowotny was already making a name for himself , claiming seven victories on the 4th of August 1942 alone . Flying FW 190s with JG 54 during 1943, he claimed forty-one victories during June, ten of them on the 24th. This rate of scoring continued , with forty-nine in August, forty-five in September , and then thirty-two in ten days in October, raising his score to over 250 . Walter Nowotny was killed in combat on the 8th of November 1944 in a Messerschmitt Me 262 Jet Fighter He gained three victories with this revolutionary fighter in a special test commando in which he was commanding.
